New Living Room Arrangement

We found a new home for the power wheelchair. I should definitely come up with a name for it. We park it between the dining table and freezer to preserve the space we have in our living room.

As you can tell, my wheelchair serves as a coat rack while I am not using it!

Those front caster wheels need to be replaced soon. As you can see the middle of the tires have their threads showing. I've been pricing around on websites, and I think I've found a pair for $17.00 each tire. Hopefully, we can purchase those soon and get them in the mail to swap them out!

Evening Sky

Words can't really describe the beautiful evening sky we had the other night. I'm not sure that our camera did justice either. So you as the viewer of this blog can make your own decision!

Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins

This evening I found a recipe online to make banana bread. Because our oven cooks on the hotter side, we decided to make muffins to ensure they would cook evenly. We had 6 black bananas and decided to add chocolate chips to the recipe. They were a success!!

Here is the recipe that we used!

Banana Bread

2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
½ cup butter
¾ cup brown sugar
2 eggs
2  1/3 cups mashed overripe bananas

Oven Temp: 350 degrees 15-25 min. for muffins.

We doubled the recipe, which made about 24 muffins.

6 Day Headache :(

This last Wednesday March 2nd, I abruptly got a headache of piercing pain over my left temple area. I tried 2 Excedrin tablets which didn't seem to work. By Sunday evening, the pain was extreme. I gave in and tried one of my samples called Relpax. No luck. The pain surged on. The inside half of my right eye turned blood red. Monday I called in to the doctors and got in for a 4pm appt. I received 2 injections. 60 mg of Toradol and Phenergan. Between the two, I was pretty drowsy. I went to bed at 8pm and woke up at 10am. I was able to get my repeat blood work done for my parathyroid levels which were slightly elevated last month, and new blood work for the anti-thyroid antibody. The second blood test is to check as a possibility for Hashimoto's disease. I also received a new migraine sample medicine called Maxalt. So time will tell if it is successful or not. Apparently, for migraine treatment, it is a trial and error kind of thing. Some meds. work well for some people, while not at all for others. I think I'm realizing a trend...It seems like it is this way for all types of medical treatment.

Shower Chair

This evening we went to the D.I. to find a black dress shirt for Antonio. Tomorrow South Fork Elementary School in Archer, ID is picketing (in school) Tom Lunas' crazy idea to get rid of paraeducators, aides, and a large chunk of our teachers. So the whole school is participating in a black out. Everyone will be wearing the color black. We had success! A picture to come (hopefully I'll remember!) Antonio found a wrinkle-free shirt, his perfect size, for a perfect price of $4.00. In addition, we found a shower seat for me for $5.00.

The Joy of a Crockpot!

Sunday afternoon we decided to break out the crock pot. I must say, the smell and aroma in our apartment was amazing! Here are a few pictures of it coming together.

                                                 Part 2
We enjoyed the aromas of the first stew, that we decided to try it again! Our roast must have been a bit bigger than what we used the first time, since it didn't fit! So we luckily were able to borrow a larger crock pot from our neighbors to cook the roast.

The Ants Go Marching 1 by 1!

I made macaroni and cheese for an after dinner snack. I accidently dropped a few noodles covered in cheese on the floor. I picked up the noodles, but obviously missed the sauce. The ants were quick to find a surprise. I was not happy to see their presence. As I quietly hunted for the ant spray (since Antonio was already asleep) I accidently dumped over the oatmeal container. Frustrated, I grabbed the bleach and sprayed the heck out of the ants. They died...Then I found the ant spray. How ironic?!

This is the oatmeal I spilled all over. So much for a great sealing container, it was such a small fall.
